1) Do what you love. You’re going to devote a lot of time and energy to starting a business and building it into a successful enterprise, so it’s really important that you truly deeply enjoy what you do, whether it be running fishing charters, creating pottery or providing financial advice.

2) Start your business while you’re still employed. How long can most people live without money? Not long. And it may be a long time before your new business actually makes any profits. Being employed while you’re starting your business means money in your pocket while you’re going through the business start up process.

3) Don’t do it alone. You NEED a support system while you’re starting a business (and afterwards). A family member or friend that you can bounce ideas off and who will listen sympathetically to the latest businses start up crisis is invaluable. Even better, find a mentor or, if you qualify, apply for a business start up program. Experienced guidance is the best support sytem of all.

4) Get clients or customers first. Don’t wait until you’ve offically started your business to line these up, because your business can’t survive without them. Do the networking. Make the contacts. Sell or even give away your products or services. You can’t start marketing too soon.

5) Write a business plan. The main reason for doing a business plan first is that it can help you avoid sinking your time and money into starting a business that will NOT succeed. (See “Why You Need A Business Plan” for other good reasons.)

6) Do the research. You’ll do a lot of research working through a business plan, but that’s just a start. You need to become an expert on your industry, products and services, if you’re not already. Joining related industry or professional associations before you start your business is a great idea.

7) Get professional help. On the other hand, just because you run a small business, doesn’t mean you have to be an expert on everything. If you’re not an accountant or bookkeeper, hire one (or both). If you need to write up a contract, and you’re not a lawyer, hire one. You will waste more time and possibly money in the long run trying to do things yourself that you’re not qualifed to do.

Get the money lined up. Save up if you have to. Approach potential investors and lenders. Figure our your financial fall-back plan. Don’t expect to start a business and then walk into a bank and get money. Traditional lenders don’t like new ideas and don’t like businesses without proven track records.

9) Be professional from the get-go. Everything about you and the way you do business needs to let people know that you are a professional running a serious business. That means getting all the accoutrements such as professional business cards, a business phone and a business email address, and treating people in a professional, courteous manner.

10) Get the legal and tax issues right the first time. It’s much more difficult and expensive to unsnarl a mess afterwards. Does your business need to be registered? Will you have to charge GST or PST? Will you have to have Workers’ Compensation Insurance or deal with payroll taxes? How will the form of business you choose affect your income tax situation? Learn what your legal and tax responsibilities are before you start your business and operate accordingly.

Working from home was not a dream of mine for too many years. I loved my job and could never imagine leaving before retirement. Yet, at 33 years old, my 15 years in the dying Newspaper businesses left me no other choice but to look for something else. I was very involved in the local area and felt the necessity to stick around. Unfortunately, this area was the middle of Michigan, the heart of the auto industry.

I also wanted a chance to stay at home with my growing family. I realized a work from home opportunity may be the best possible solution but must include a way to access other economies. I looked for many hours on line and studied many sites for work at home opportunities.

When looking on the internet for opportunities to work from home many sites offered the scams of the business. I learned quickly these were individuals or business with many failed sites. They would offer you the scams of the work from home business and list their own business as the top work from home opportunities.

After much research I found the most suited work from home venture in the network marketing area. After thorough investigation and much success I can proudly say I made the right choice. With a sure fit and hard work I make a great amount of money to supplement my income.

If you are looking for a work from home opportunity please be cautious. I could tell you if you are looking for a successful work from home opportunity visit my site but just because the opportunity works for me does not mean that it will be successful for you too. To truly succeed in a work from home opportunity you have to believe in the business and work extremely hard to start a good base. Auto pilot will come but the hard work comes first. There are no “get rich quick” ways and if someone tells you other wise they are misleading you. Good luck in your venture.

Determining if a small business is right for you can be manipulated by other factors that you need to be aware of. So let’s begin the process by establishing your responsibilities in this. First things first, learn as much as you can about the industry, the product and the demand of the service. The worst thing you can do prior to joining a network is repeat quotes about their industry that isn’t true. For example, I was introduced to someone who asked me what industry my business was in. Since I own multiple businesses, I said travel, referring to one of them. Then the guy rambled on about how the travel industry was dead and assumed I wasn’t making a profit. I thought this was so hilarious because the travel industry is the largest industry, even bigger than oil and my team is one of the top producers in the company. So don’t be foolish, do your research and ask lots of questions and make sure to get the answers.

It’s time for you to accept running a business is going to be more of an investment than what you expect it to, every time. Apply your research and seek those who are producing from the industry you’re interested in then ask questions about marketing ideas, effective tools, and personal experiences. This will help you get an idea of what your investments into the business will be. Make sure to listen with intent because the tips you receive from successful people will structure your business and add value.

Learn about your competition extensively. Compare them to what you’re looking for, and keep note of the qualities you like. This can be easily done by subscribing to their newsletter and seeing what they offer. There are many business opportunities out there and to ensure your choosing the right one for you, just do your do diligence.

Be original and get into business for any other reason than to make money, this will help you succeed where others fail. For example, I know a woman that joined one of my networks; she was struggling financially and is sick with a condition so her prescriptions are a ridiculous amount a month. She joined this particular network because it offered free major medical health and life insurance. She is growing steadily with her business and adds new partners on a consistent basis. Now the same network but a different person who spoke of nothing but making lots of cash, still has no one signed up under them. In network marketing a large number of its participants fail, so cut your odds down by providing service, quality and customer satisfaction. Know you’re getting into business for yourself and money will
and always does follow.

Starting a business takes a lot of time and devotion, now is the time for you to forget about the 40 hour week and realize much more is demanded of you. In order to achieve wealth you must be willing to work hard, very hard, and long. For example, the other day I woke up at ten in the morning and stayed up working on my pc till almost 6 in the morning! The next couple of days I did this and noticed it not because I enjoy what I do and how I make my money. The same can be for you, just be devoted to growing as an individual.

Here’s a key factor in starting your own business, your organizational skills. While in business for yourself you need to keep accurate records for your taxes, banking and your own purposes. Keeping organized now will help you eliminate issues in the future, so make sure to keep your own records even if someone else is. This way you can reference your notes and quickly establish if there is a problem and fix it.

Many small business owners have family and friends working for them, and it’s because their loyal. If you don’t have a family of members all flocking to work for you rest assured you can find reliable, experienced employees from all different sources on the internet, and more. There is always an abundance of people looking for work so tapping into them is fairly easy.

Every business owner has a lawyer, accountant, and insurance agent, so you’ll need them too when you start your business. These professionals will become very handy to you and are an asset to getting things done.

Deciding if you should run your business is a big decision and should be made with a sound mind. Please keep note, there is no individual who will run your business the way you do, treat your customers with respect like you do, or watch your money like you do. The joy of owning a small business is having the power of decision, and it’s in your best interest to leave that power in your own hands, so keep others out of certain aspects and do the rest yourself. Anything else that needs to be done can be leveraged so don’t worry about it.

Lastly it’s very important you follow this and stay positive no matter what. Even when you fail, hurry yourself to get back up and accomplish it. If something tragic happens, immediately remove yourself mentally and locate the opportunity. There is opportunity everywhere, like an idea, and you can’t get rid of it, so use it. Please keep note, your direct influence will affect you (negatively or positively) and its time you surrounded yourself with likeminded individuals, these relationships are priceless because they are the ones that hold you and your business accountable, they discuss and spark ideas, and the support is limitless.

Above I have provided you with the necessary steps to starting a small business. But the real story begins when you take action and you place them into effect. I know as a new business owner you need networks and friendships of people that genuinely want to help you. A great resource for finding these people is the internet and can be done simply by completing a search. So start your business, take lots of action and have fun with it!

Let’s face it, we’ve all been through failure. Be it online or offline, we’ve experienced it in some form or the other. Failure is specially hard when it’s your work at home business. You’ve put in so much into your work at home business and sometimes nothing seems to be working. And there comes a time when you fell you have to face the facts and call it a failure. Did you actually fail? And if you did, how do you stay motivated? Is this the end of the world for you? Here are a few things to think about that might help you pick yourself up and move on towards success.

Failure is a necessary step towards success. Changing your perception about “Failure” can help you overcome it. Take for instance your first swimming lesson. Did you swim the length of the pool the very first time you jumped in? Of course not. You failed the first time. You might even have failed the second time. But did that stop you? Of course not. You kept trying and kept failing. And today you can swim like a champ. So looking back do you think you really failed that first time? Or did you merely “try”. Did you fail the second time? Or did you merely “try”? Failing is trying. Failing is practicing. Failing is learning. And thus failing is making progress towards success.

Realize and tell yourself that you have not failed as a person. Just because your work at home business failed does not mean that you are a failure yourself. The “failure” is simply a temporary set back that failed to reach your goal at this time. It merely tells you that you might have to chose differently the next time or chose more wisely. It simply means you were “Man” ( or “woman ” ) enough to make a decision and stick with it and saw it through to the end, regardless of what the outcome was. Do not berate yourself. Pat yourself on the back for not giving up.

Set yourself goals and work towards them constantly. Your “failure” might have been due to the fact that you did not set goals. Or perhaps the ones that you did set were too hard to achieve. Set yourself goals that are easily achievable and work towards them constantly. Do no wander off the path. Stay focused and make sure that you achieve your goals at regular intervals. When you begin to achieve your goals one by one, you will find that you are that much closer to success.

Set a time table for all of your work at home business chores and goals. JFK didn’t say “Lets go to the moon SOME day” He said “Lets be the first to put a man on the moon” and he set a time. Set a timeframe for every goal and make sure you abide by it. If you do this, there’ll be no time for failure.

Think of failure as God’s way of telling you that you’ve still got lots to learn. Think of all the others who’ve suffered failure like you and who have bounced back on to their feet. Perhaps it wasn’t your time to succeed yet because you weren’t really ready for it. And perhaps the “big guy” upstairs sent you a “wake up call” just to let you know it’s time to rethink your goals. Don’t think of the message much, but think of the sender. HE is watching, and the fact that you were in his sights was a success by itself.

Did you know that the Chinese characters for “Crisis” and “Opportunity” are the same? If you can find the “Opportunity” in your “Crisis” then did you in fact suffer a “Crisis” in the first place? Treat failure as a temporary setback and an opportunity to get back onto track, on the way to success. It’s a little wake up call to make sure that you’re on the right track. Rid yourself with all negative thoughts and you will find that you are once again on the path to success.

So what is failure really? It’s a mindset. Train yourself to be rid of the negative “failure” mindset and embrace the “setback” as a gift. Pull yourself together and focus on achieving your goals in a timely manner and don’t let temporary “hiccups” bring you down. Think of “Failures” as a stones you step on the path to success. Each “stone” will bring you that much closer to being a rock solid success.
