How To Use Twitter, Tip

So you’re learning how to use twitter and you may need some tweet ideas, right? You don't have to tweet that you're currently eating a bagel or that you're about to water the plant and you don't have to tweet links to your business all day. In order to gain followers that benefit from you and you benefit from them, you must tweet content.

Sure you can put your Twitter on automatic, but what will that do? It leaves YOU out of the equation and only causes people to not pay attention or respond to your tweets, and the entire point of Twitter is conversation not automation. You want to generate and stimulate conversation with your followers and likewise to the people you’re following. So have you been running out of ideas what to tweet or just trying to get started? Here’s some quick ideas for you:

- Blogs or Websites that have lists. Lists are extremely popular with people (you’re reading one now!) they love the quick how-tos to fix something in their lives. So find a reputable blog or website and tweet it with a good intro. For example: Top 10 Comedy Movies, 7 Ways Of Using Vinegar To Clean Carpet.

- Quotes are used A LOT. People love short, funny, and inspirational quotes. I’ve seen them turn viral. Plus you can use the hashtag #quotes to garner even more attention

- News, Pictures, Videos are best used with a great headline. I wouldn’t post news all the time though, but videos or pictures associated with related news items would provide more content than straight up news stories from CNN.

- Bookmarked sites. I have a handful of sites I visit everyday. I pick out the best articles of the day and tweet them. But I only tweet them once. Also tweeting just the articles or blog posts is a lot better than tweeting the entire site. This way your followers don’t have to pick through what’s interesting. You’re directly showing them.

- Find the hot hashtags or trends for the day right on the Twitter page. Tweet about that and join in the conversation!

- Questions. Why don’t you ask your followers some questions and generate quick conversations? You don’t want to “chat” per say, but you can quiz the hive mind of your followers. If you do want to chat with someone, take it to DMs or get another Twitter account strictly for that. You may also find other people joining in the conversation and you’ll never know.. maybe you’ll develop your own hashtag!

- Everyday life. Don’t be afraid to tweet your everyday life, but don’t make a habit out of it. If you do want to discuss what you’ve done for the day… at least include a little picture to make it more interesting.

These Twitter ideas are not intended for you to seek out to be RT’d or gain popularity. That should come naturally and not forced. So take your time, have fun, and get to tweeting!
